Our lives are likely to be compared to a road. A road in which we take to reach our final destination.
I had a difficult time choosing what road I’ll be taking.
I thought that it was okay to be going around in circles enjoying the sceneries. I was going the way that has no destination. (Proverbs 14:12: There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.) I’m talking about the situation I was in before I knew that there was another way, another road that would lead me somewhere.
That way is Jesus Christ (John14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.) I thank God that he gave His only begotten Son to die at Calvary in my stead. He suffered it all for me on that rugged cross, He paid the price that I could not pay. He endured the pain and the shame. His precious blood washed all my sins away. He was made sin for me. (II Corinthians 5: 21). For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
There are so many new roads claiming that they are the way but I believe Jesus is the only way for me to get saved!
Now, the road I’m taking has a destination. I’m going to heaven someday! There may be curves, zigzag, “bumps ahead” while taking this road, there may be accidents along the way. Those are trials and temptations. That’s where I’ll learn to take heed and yield to warnings and cautions. Those warnings and cautions are from His Holy Word and the Holy Spirit. It is only by His Word and the Holy Spirit within me that I’ll be corrected, rebuked, instructed, guided, & comforted. (2Tmothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:)
His word is my roadmap!
There will be many distractions from this world that would sometimes lead to accidents. There will come a time that the road I’m taking will need construction. That’s a manifestation that God is still working on me and I trust God that he will be my Guide. I must not linger, I must keep going – He is the one leading me.
Someday I’ll reach my destination when God calls me home to be with Him forever.
My questions for you who is reading this:
What road are you going to choose? Does this road lead you to a dead-end?
(2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?)
I’ll take the old highway the one called straight
It’s very narrow all the way to the gate!
It started at Calvary that’s where I got on
it’s the old old highway paved with grace all the way home!
